Destiny, Fate and the Fortunate
des-ti-ny Pronunciation [des-tuh-nee]
1. something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune.
2. the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.
fate Pronunciation [feyt]
1. something that unavoidably befalls a person; fortune; lot.
2. that which is inevitably predetermined; destiny.
Commonly used in relation to the outcome of events on which one rejoices or laments. Words that imbibe faith or otherwise used to justify. Words equally used by the hopeful and the hopeless. People use these words as a shield to pacify themselves forgetting that there is a cause-effect relationship in life. Two words interchangeable with ease but have reference to one common factor in both - Time.
I believe destiny is time itself and this is how i understand the relation between the words "Destiny", "Fate" and the ultimate fact "Life".
I see Life as a journey through Time. Time is intangible thus I envision a Maze as the best form of Time. A maze that is ever changing its structure on every step and turn that one takes. There is a never ending series of doors behind doors, each door opening up to different doors and them to others but locks itself behind you as you enter. There is no return. Each moment of our life we choose to open a new door walk through it and see a set of events happening. We observe, think and accordingly emote, act and react. These emotions, actions and reactions result in the opening of a new door from the various doors that we see before us. Each door opens up to a new set of events similar or different from the previous ones. As the journey goes forth our perceptions increase from our continuous observations and the results from our various emotions, actions and reactions. These perceptions are termed as Experience. The accumulated experiences help us in acting and reacting to what lies beyond a door we choose to enter. People see uncertainty as Destiny and the occurrences of a set of events at a certain point in time as Fate. It is here that I define Fate as the resulting consequences of our choices made, our actions taken and the reactions of our emotions to every set of events.
People believe that a pattern of events exists in a time frame called future and a set of events have been preset in time. I would like to contradict this belief. We choose to open a door not knowing what lies beyond it but opening one is inevitable. What lies beyond any door in this maze of life are new set of events arising from the resulting consequences of any of our prior multiple actions and reactions on which we must think, emote, act and react once again. This results in an evolution of events the very moment we finish acting and reacting to the current set of events we encounter and these new set of events are preset behind the various closed doors. Multiple actions and reactions result in multiple set of events thus increasing the number of doors in the maze. The number of doors in the maze is equally proportional to the number of set of events thus making it impossible for the person to go through two doors without having to act or react. The journey through the maze begins with commencement of physical being and ends with extinction both having its direct relation to occurrence. There is no abrupt cease to the journey. Beyond which door is the event of extinction we do not know but as opening of the doors is inevitable so is the final occurrence.
