Greed is Energy
“Equilibrium attains rest.” Yes, a simple manmade tool – rubber-band, when stretched, it absorbs potential, when released, uses this potential to attain a state of equilibrium, thus rests. Everything in this world – may it be a fundamental particle of matter or a gigantic universe, their sole purpose of presence is working towards equilibrium. We may witness this energy flow in opposite direction at times, you may argue that is not for equilibrium. Yes, and nither it compensates for anything towards equilibrium. But thats the point. There is also a particualar amount of ‘Energy’ which this universe has to hold. Dissipating this energy from one system to another is another law. This means not every system ALWAYS work towards stability, sometimes it needs to be unstable since some one should carry this energy. Logically speaking, if resting/calmness/stability these terms brings a positive streak in your mind, then ‘Energy’ should be negative since it denies the stability and provokes restlessness. But wait, before we can make any conclusions, think…
Human sentiments are similar. Equilibrium can be analogued to ‘satisfaction’ and Energy can be analogued to ‘greed’. Talking about their work, we are actually climbing few ladders into the details into this side of analogy, but i believe it ll be better. Why do humans work? – most of them to earn money, some of them for satisfaction. Intension behind earning money without any limit is nothing but Greed. While those who have found this limit (not because of their limited qualification) can be supposed to have satisfaction. Greedy people who earn money, want to earn more, and those who are in equilibrium, dont. In human relations, money usually is a measures of an individual’s caliber. More the caliber, more money he earns. An individual may self improve himself, to earn more money. A group of high caliber individuals forms cream layer in human society. And oftenly, the development of this human civilisation highly depends on these calibrated people. Some people may have a point to say here is that, those who work towards self improvement are not greedy. Excuse me, they may not be greedy for money, but they are greedy for self improvement, and Greed is Greed. Basically more the number of hard working people, more is the pace of driving the cycle of human civilisation. So we are leading a successful life because of this greed.
Let us consider the other way round. What if all the people are satisfied with what they have. There would have been no development in any direction. Even today the salary of Rs. 5000 might have sounded like – ‘Whoa!!’. There would be no computer, no internet for communication. No new trends in fashion. I guess, at times we might would have been apes. There would have been no exploitation of mother nature, fuels wouldnt have been a scarce resource, artic circles would have been frozen completely even today, natural disasters (might) have happend less in number, there would have been no fear of the day when earth will end. Earth will never end? thats not possible, then how will this universe attain equilibrium? The journey from birth to equilibrium has a story in it, which is written by energy. In a way, if we think, this greed is actually good. Because it catalyses this journey. So to maintain the law of equilibrium, Greed is necessary. Whether it is good or bad should be personal opinion.
