Rude behaviour of Governmnt officials

Lack of understanding of social responsibilities leads to callous attitude. Politeness in dealing with public has no place in the behaviour of Babus in Government Offices.

Policemen treat even one as anti-social elements. Even the victims of crimes are treated as criminals. Complaints are not registered unless they are paid for discharging their duties; otherwise complainants will become culprits.

Counter clerks at Post Offices shout at public if clarifications are sought. There is no use even if you approach top officials. Behaviour of counter clerks and their superiors at railway stations is no exception as they work for the same organisation with a right to shout.

Income Tax Officers treat tax payers as tax evaders. They are rude when asked for some clarifications. Their juniors including peons follow the footsteps of their bosses.

Custom Officers shout at everyone without any reason. They cool down when CAs (Collective Agents) approach with a cool show of hands. People work under them cheer and they follow suit.

Men at airports are no exception. Security personnel to immigration officers, everyone welcomes guests with intemperate language. A UK citizen of Indian origin, a lady, was denied entry to India by a Delhi Immigration official on the ground that her passport expires within six months, though she held a valid visa. Her repeated plea that she would leave the country or renew her passport from UK embassy yielded no results. But she was allowed entry after paying a personal penalty (bribe) as suggested by some good samaritan.

It is a well known fact that men working at Indian embassies abroad treat Indians as unwanted immigrants. They treat other Asians seeking Indian VISAs as low class citizens. But they treat white men as VIPs, give clearance without question, a fallout from British rule.

This is India, that is Bharat, that gives rude shock to every Indian citizen if they need official help. Can we change this attitude?
