Bangalore is a healthy potpourri of top-class attractions. But if you have seen them all and are looking for some weekend getaways in the proximity, then here are 5 special places you must visit:

Bannerghatta National Park: This is a manmade wildlife park which is the residential address of a number of birds & beasts that range from the tigers to the butterflies. Since, it is just an hour’s drive from the city, it is a perfect weekend treat to the tired mind. If you lust for wildlife, then this place should be a feast for your eyes! It’s a round-the-year destination though the cooler season between September and January is the most favorable.

Nandi Hills: Nandi Hills offer a scenic getaway to the city-scorched dwellers and is one of the best places to visit in Bangalore. With temples, fortress and hamlets under its wings, these hills are laced in history and smeared with a bit of mythology. Excellent accommodation and eating facilities are available, thereby making this site a much-visited one.

Bheemeshwari: Bheemeshwari is a beautiful natural locale nestled at a negotiable distance of around 100 km from Bangalore. It is a place which is brimming with resplendence, as its verdant forests and lush waterfalls would testify. The place is also noted for the game of angling/fishing, and the notorious ‘Mahseer’ fish is the biggest catch!

Namada Chilume: Namada Chilume is around 70 km away from Bangalore and is known for its mythological spring, some wet forests and the famed Deer Park. Away from the cacophonous metro city, this corner is a pure bliss!

Devarayana Durga: One of the most spiritual places to see near Bangalore, the mythology-tinted Devarayana Durga is an amalgamation of rocks, springs and temples. Its biggest attraction is the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, a Dravidian-style architecture.
