Lets there be more interesting lectures!
Though i may not have that much experience about the lecture system in
other institutions in India but being a student of a National institute
of the country ,as i have observed ,i think the way of delivering the
lectures in some countries like USA or England, that is far better than
ours.
In our country particularly talking about the Engg. colleges there are not many teachers that really make the learning hours effective or useful for the majority of the class.It seems to me as if they are more concentrating on the student with higher grades and interacting with them only in the class.
It has been scientifically proved that a human mind can concentrate on a particular topic for about 20 minutes at a strech and after that it start loosing the interest if some continues with the same one so there should be a slight break for 1-2 min., so that the mind can be refresh again. ,after every 20 to30 mins. but our teachers generally don't do that and keep on teaching continously for hour or two as if there is target of completing the topic that day only, on the contrary i have seen American professors cracking small jokes or asking something to the students so that they remain alive in the class!
The problem some times is also of time because generally we have 4 months semester and moreover that too is full of many co-curricular events, so there is constraint of time with professors also.But i think that can be solved easily by extending the time limit for a semester.
In the end i just want to say that just make learning more interesting so that students can find their interest easily.
