When Taj Cried
I reached Mumbai on 21st of December. The VT(CST) Station where I deboarded Geetanjali reached the destination 15 minutes before scheduled time.Things were very quite, calm amd it was difficult to get from the general mood that the same had witnessed initiation of horror at the same time almost 26 days ago.
I came via the overbridge to catch the Cab near platform number 18.When I took the cab and ask the driver to move towards Pedder Road, I realised that there was lessactivities and movement as compared to earlier days.Since I am frequenting Mumbai on quarterly basis, after I got out of this place on Transfer last year, I know how much crowded VT used to be that too at and around 9.30 in the night.
BMC building, Cama Hospital,Metro Cinemal all were looking like I was seeing them afresh....no mad rush,no whistle blowing policewalas,no bikeriders......excepting a few, who were making me feel the liveliness....
When I was on Marine drive, I saw huge sea of people around Chaupati......There I found the life but still the turnout was much less than I used to see on earlier days....
I reached home within 20 minutes, and that was sufficient to tell the position of traffic on road....much much thinner...
Seeing Tajmahal Hotel was on my agenda...While going to my Corporate office, I wanted to go to Oberai Shopping Centre for purchasing a Hidesign Leather Bag for my Wife...But seeing the security and the involved paraphernalia, I avoided that. Somehow I was not finding the glory of Oberai Towers in place on that date...I felt that the bullets had hurt the atmosphere around that place so deep that It was not possible to regain the lost glory and confidence....
In my Office, security wasas tight as it should have been...
While coming back i just went to see Taj....the Glory of Mumbai...the palce in front of which I had spent so much tim,e with my wife, kids,relatives... The building which had always fascinated me and alwaysevoked a photographer cum poet cum skecther inside me to reproduce my thoughts.....However,the wound of 26th November have converted Taj into an Ordinary Building....Not bubbling with Firangs, Celebs....Some where I was hearing a sound....sound of crying...crying of TAJ....
The tears of Taj will never get away from my mind....and also Mumbai will never be the same.....
Let's pray for those who lost their lives on this unfateful day...
I salute the courage of our Secutity forces, who despite the polics of Politicians and Red Ribbons of beaurocratic channels are willing to sacrifice thier lives for the safety of people living in this country...
But somewhere I am pained and few questions come to my mind....
Why we react so strongly when only Parliament is attacked or those places where VVIPs are attacked...
Why no channels investigated or reported on the number of casualties that has taken place...
Why only Politicians suffered and no Civil servant...
Why people are not asking questionsabout the amount invested on Secret funds for the Investigating agencies like IB, RAW...
These Secret funds are used to gather informations and the expenses are not subject to audit....then in that case when Incident takes place, why such organizations are not held guilty...Why Home Secretary is from IAS and not from IPS...Why Revenue Secretary, Health secretary,Technical secretaries are from IAS and from respectiveservices?
There are so many questions ...answers are required ...but who will bell the Cat?
