Where is the ‘balance’?? Which ‘balance’ are we talking about????

Retired GM from BHEL India

In a blog posted by my friend Ashik, he appeared to be quite perturbed by the absence of balance in decision making. I was surprised, or should I say taken aback, by his innocence. Where is the ‘balance’?? Which balance was he talking about? I kept on wondering….

At least I don’t see any semblance of balance in our approach to life. Yes, I mean it….

We look for the best of matrimonial alliances but when it comes to giving time to the other half (better or worse), we opt for the professional alliance…….

We console ourselves that we are making a sacrifice for the sake of the family without bothering who was there to console the family……

We take pride in parenthood but don’t mind our children being brought up by baby sitters……

We can’t spare time for our children but don’t spare the children either, if they don’t do well……

We run so fast and mad to earn that we don’t find time to spend. When we have time, we lack the courage because our and the next seven generations’ tomorrows should be safe and secure. Or when we think we have accumulated enough and could spend, can’t spend because health had ran out faster…..

We take pride in our rise without bothering how many have we made to fall in the process……

We love to be regarded as the last word on leadership, but are the first to turn our back on our subordinates……

We are so obsessed with becoming successful in the society that in the end we are left with the society of pets…..

So, my dear friend, where is the ‘balance’?? It’s all about marriage of convenience. Decisions today are based on convenience, not on ‘balance’.

We believe we have mastered the Master and are beyond the nature, which also maintains a balance in whatever it does…..
