ROAD SIDE GUPSHUP @TRAVEL SERIES -4.2
It was a bright and sunny evening. I was having my hot cup of coffee along with pakkodas, enjoying evening from my balcony.
JAAG OORE VOTERS –EXERCISE YOUR VOTING POWER
I could see election banners and posters of different political partiesfluttering in air. They haven’t left any space, where these posters andbanners were not visible from the eyes of the public.
Icould see flock of sparrows sitting on the near by trees and chirping,as if they were nominating their members for upcoming election. I couldsee one of the bird sitting on the top of the branch and others sittingnext to near by branches of tree. I felt the bird which was sitting onthe top was the party leader, who ultimately issues party ticket forthe All India Bird committee Association (AIBCA).
I saw somebirds flying from that tree to adjacent tree and one bird was sittingon the top branch and others listening to it. What I felt was, thosewere the members who didn’t get the seat to contest the election. Sothey have started their own third front party called BhartiyaDemocratic Birds Party (BDBP). I was thinking, what a day has come? Ithought only, in humans, groupism and communalism is there. Now a days, birds have started to imitate the groupism behavior of our politicalparties.
JOURNEY OF UNKNOWN DESTINATION BEGINS
The sun was almost setting after having its stressful day. I went downto start my power machine. I plugged in my hands free to my ears andtuned into my favorite radio station. I started my power machine. Islowly accelerated the machine, so that it reaches the optimumtemperature.
I slowly shifted the gear to first and I couldfeel my power machine behaving like a bull raging before a bullfight. After that I slowly moved from the place. I was moving through shortcutroute, so that I could reach the main road, avoiding the traffic.
KIDDOS SMILE
Onthe way, I could see group of students returning back from the school. They all probably belong to age group of 12-13 yrs. One of them washolding a question paper in his hand and checking the correctness ofanswers with others. I could see a sudden play of emotions from worryto happiness in that kiddos face. I guessed from his face expressionthat, he got his answer correct.
GUP SHUP BEGINS
Movingfurther, I reached the junction which cuts directly to main road.Fellow drivers were trying to move forward to fill the available spacein the road. When I looked the traffic signal timer, it was showing 110secs countdown. I was just looking at the fellow drivers andpedestrians to kill away the remaining time.
When I was exploring, I found that a baby gal was sitting on mothers lap, inside a Maruthi omni car. She had a cute smile and was smiling to whomever, looking at her. After 5 mins, I could see another family, riding on Honda activa stopped adjacent to this car. In the Honda activa, there was another baby gal whose age might be around 3 yrs old. This small gal, who was sitting in omni van, was trying to get this gal attention by displaying her smile and waving at her. Finally she also smiled at her back. Both were smiling at each other. The language of smile spreads like whirl pool of wind.
I just looked at the right sideof foot path pavement. I could see small gal probably aged 5 yrscollecting bunch of leafy vegetables from her mother. Then she isheading towards the vehicles and trying to sell those vegetables toprospective customers.
When I looked at the signal, only 15 secswere remaining. So I turned on the ignition of my bike and was waitingfor the green signal to move from that place. Finally the green signalcame and when I was about to move from there, the Santro car which wasin front of my bike, applied sudden brake. Luckily, I didn’t give fullthrottle to the bike. It was a close call; hardly 1 inch distance wasthere between two vehicles.
It was like a beggar jumped in frontof this car and he had no choice other than to apply the power brake. He was saying some good standard abusive words in Kannada to thebeggar. I also wanted to say fill in the rest of words to that beggaralso. But hearing those showering of words from that Santro driver, myanger also cooled down. Even if he takes 100 dips in holy water, theeffect of words won’t go. Such were the phrases, that driver used forthat beggar.
I could hear honking of fellow drivers frombehind. So I slowly moved my bike to gap and moved away from thatplace. Still the Santro fellow was not ready to forgive the beggar. Iwas thinking, why he was not ready to forgive the beggar. The Santrowas new one and poor fellow was driving so carefully to avoid anymishaps, during his first ride on the car.
FOLLOW THE LEADER & ALLIGATOR HAS ITS PREY
AsI move from the place, I could see the traffic was getting heavier. Thevehicles were constantly honking behind other vehicles to get 1 cm ofspace. Some of them fellow bikers were doing adventures on thepedestrian pavement. It’s like one guy acted as leader to other fellowbikers. “Follow the leader” was the strategy adopted by the otherbikers to avoid this heavy traffic. But little did the other fellowbikers knew, that there was a traffic inspector waiting like crocodilewith its mouth wide open, ready to eat its prey.
The trafficinspector and fellow constables were on a running spree to catch thesebikers. I was about to adopt the follow the leader policy, but seeingthe misadventure faced by the leader, I restrained myself. The trafficwas getting normal pace by that time. I saw that traffic inspector andfellow constables had a big grin on their face, like a crocodile afterhaving its heavy meal basking in the sun. I was thanking all my stars, for not becoming a victim of this alligator.
YUMMY –HMMMMM
I slightly increased the throttle of my bike to move away from these vehicles, which were still going at 30 km/s speed. When I just glanced at the watch, it was almost 7.45pm. Luckily I got enough space to move away from this traffic madness. On the foot path pavements, I could seefood vendors were putting tables and chairs for the customers. The smell of the food, coming from this food joint, were so intoxicating that ,there will be enough water in your mouth to run a ship. I could see with in 5 mins, almost 25 customers were there to give order tothis fellow.
After riding 10 mins, I could see party hall fullyilluminated with lights and could hear beautiful wedding song comingfrom here. I could see cars ranging from Audi 6 to Honda city parked ina row. I could also see a beehive of activities happening there. Thepeople were crowding out side the party hall and gup shup between themwere going on. I could see people smiling at and greeting each other. Some were doing gup shup while crossing the road and were ignoring thetraffic. Vehicles passing through this road were constantly honking toget attention of these pedestrians.
JOGGERS PARK- SHARING SPACE & MOMENTS
Moving from there, I entered the side lane to avoid the rest of the traffic. There was a beautiful park well maintained in that lane. The park was well lit and there were some joggers doing jogging and I could also see some children having their play time. I could see some couples sitting in the dark near to bushes and having their own intimate moments.
MOM’S LOVE –THE GREATEST EXPRESSION
As I was passing by, I could see a lady pushing her TVS scooty, with asmall boy sitting in that bike. I guess, it was her son and fuel gotover and lady was pushing with full effort to reach the nearest fuelfilling station or her home. I was thinking, why she didn’t asked thesmall boy to walk along with her? Maybe she didn’t care about the painand weariness she felt during pushing her bike, when she looked the atsmall boy’s smiling face.
I still had 10 mins remaining to reachmy destination. I applied full throttle to the bike to enjoy thetraffic less road. Wow! The adrenalin was rushing through my spine andI was enjoying the every moment of the thrill and excitement of theride.
DRUNKEN DRIVERS- MEANACE TO SOCIETY
Ihad to take a U- turn to reach my destination. So I reached near themedian and was waiting for traffic to clear up from other side. I couldsee other vehicles were also waiting to take U- turn along with me.When I was about to take U-turn, I could see a fellow Honda activarider, lost the balance and fell on the road. Every one was wonderingwhat happened, because no other vehicle had hit it.
It was like, near to this Honda activa vehicle, there was also a hero Hondacbz bike rider in front of him. He was also trying to take U turn. Whathappened was, when this cbz rider was trying to take u turn, withminimum space left from the median. This Honda active rider was waitingbehind the cbz rider. When CBZ rider moved forward, Honda activa ridergave full throttle to his bike. Since there was hardly any space leftfor the Honda activa rider to take U- turn, he ran over this cbzrider’s foot. May be due to reflex action, cbz rider might have pulledhis leg back.
Funny thing was, poor CBZ rider was waitingthere to help the rider to get up. But situation turn around into aviolent atmosphere. The Honda activa rider was showering this cbz riderwith all the possible abusive words left in Kannada dictionary. Thepoor chap did not understand why this guy is showering him with abusivewords.
I guess, it took some time for the cbz rider to gainback to senses. By the time traffic was building up and other fellowdrivers, who were witnessing the whole incident, asked the cbz driverto leave the incident. When the CBZ driver was trying to move from theplace, Honda activa driver became more abusive and were pushing him, while this poor chap were still on his bike.
Seeing thisonly my blood level were rising and I was thinking whether this fellowis any saint to just forget the incident. Next thing I saw was, CBZdriver went and parked the bike and went back to this Honda activadiver and was showering him back with all the possible abusive wordsleft in the English dictionary.
Later person who was alongwith this Honda active driver, apologized to the cbz driver andrequested him to leave. The Honda active rider was not willing to giveup the fight. The Honda activa driver was not able to walk properly andspeaking was not clear also. Every one got to know the problem. Thisdriver was fully drunk and was creating scene. Everyone asked the Hondaactiva driver to leave from the place.
Slowly traffic was inmotion. I felt drunken drivers should be punished. They will createproblem and risk the life of the fellow drivers. I slowly gave fullthrottle to move away from the tense situation and heavy traffic.
FINAL DESTINATION ARRIVES-PHEW!
After riding my power machine for 5 mins, I reached my destination. I was very much happy and relieved and was thanking my stars for giving me safe ride.
