India - its karmayoga

We all have read about Indian history. I want to touch upon some basic elements of this history as part of what I had been thinking lately about the situation in this nation.

From times we have known about through our historical artefacts, school books and from what historians around the world have commented, India has ALWAYS been a fascinating place for everyone on this planet.

For some, the fascination was in terms of the spiritual journey that the land offered, to others it would have been in terms of the old world charm, the exotica that they would have heard about and for others, this fascination took a more extreme aspect - of wanting to possess it to overpower it. The charm of this nation, was like that of Mohini, who was for the Asuras something to be possessed and desired for, and they did all that they could with evil to possess Mohini. While for the sages, the devas, etc. the charm of Mohini was just another Maya of the supreme Vishnu.

So coming back to hisory, India has never had a peaceful existance in it's over all history.
While there were tales of the Western forces always trying to possess this Golden Bird of yesteryears, the Eastern mysticism always wanted to share and take from it a lot of it's spiritual blessings and ways of living.

In this whole process, the land that India was then, has suffered more losses of sorts than one.
Indian jewels, it's natural resources, it's art, it's architecture, the prized creations that this land inspired create have never been left in peace by the ravagers, explorers and plunderers of the world esp those that came from the west-north-west of Indian subcontinent.

what this shows is, this land will not have a peaceful period - call it a curse, or a blessing in disguise or call it plain Karma of the land - the Vaastu might not be favoring total peace for India in the way it had seen eons ago.

So what should this kind of an argument lead us to?

Well, to begin with, understand Indian history in all its aspects - art, cuture, architecture, politics, sociology, sciences - the lessons it has taught the world, the fallouts of all these aspects and the way life adopted itself to the ups and downs that the forces of this land dished out.
If you look at the past, one thing stands out clearly - that this land has been a great contributor of knowledge and art. When it comes to power struggle, this land never was in a position to influence but was most often than not was under some or the other external power influence.

So, from that point, this land can be considered to be a very good giver of knowledge and art and culture in all forms. Hence this land and it's inhabitants would ideally be more suited to these forms of lifestyle than any other - if you know what going with the grain means.

When it comes to politics and power struggle, this land has always seen arson and looting just because the perpetrators were never able to digest the fact that this land could produce so much of it's natural bounty that they were left satisfying their material ego than look at the holistic picture and contribution of this land. Hence they ravaged this land to satisfy that desire of theirs.

Yet this land, though lost lives in the bargain, yet it emerged up and strong to spawn newer forms of contribution to the planet.

In short, Indian subcontinent geographically, has always been a seat of struggle and so the people here adopted in the old days, the paths of peace and non-violence to cope with the stresses of times.

Thus, today and in the future, we all need to realise this aspect and live with what comes out of the natural forces of this land.
