BREATHING FRESH AIR
To day marks a water shed in my life as I started on my own a small consultancy cum dealership venture after leaving the company I had worked for almost 24 years. I was feeling suffocated for a while due to erratic and inconsistent behaviour of the Management who would not listen to any sane suggestions due to bloated ego of the Managing Director. He sent his son packing, never allowed any one to develop but I was an exception. I evolved by myself and to his credit I should stay he was putting up with my behaviour for some time when I was questioning him, cajoling him, and pleading with him not to kill the goose laying golden egg that what our product eddy current coupling is. But enough was enough, We have orders - plenty of them from Power sector and this man would never take any steps to execute them. He would venture in to unrelated activities - mostly as smokescreen for diversion of money from the working capital and would never listen to any one. Probably I was the one who atleast stood up to him that at this rate the Company will be finished. He said that could be a possibility and said that it is prerogative. I was dumbfound and left it at that.
My parents were worried because at age close to 50 will it be possible to find an alternate job to feed a family? My wife was also sceptical until she saw the reason and my resolve to charter a course of my own. I may evolve in to manufacture shortly and may god willing get in to product development of Eddy Current Speed Retarders.
My entreprenurial spriit was kindled up when I was reading Lee Iacocoa's biography. Being a Coimbatorean by domicile, there was always a burning desire to be an industrialist. I have taken the baby step of a toddler and expect to break in to the bigger league.
