NOTHING NOBLE ABOUT NOBEL
This is a borrowed phraseology- borrowed from Organiser who took it an affront when Nobel Peace prize was awarded to Late revered Mother Terasa. I do not subscribe to the views of Organiser except that I have borrowed the title of their article.
The Nobel Peace prize for this year has been given to President Barrack Obama. Surprisingly for his efforts in the cause of nuclear disarmament. Well President himself would not have believed in his wildest dreams that he could be chosen for this honor. the award is incongruous in more ways than one. President Obama is a good orator could inspire people through rhetoric. His record has so far been dismal in implementing his intents. President hands over financial aid to Pakistan despite its obstinacy in not pursing on the leads given by its neighbor on the complicity of state and non state actors in the Mumbai siege. He took the views of his predecessor who armed his trusted General Musharaff to fight Talibans in Afganistan. But when Bush attempted to give a waiver to India from the discriminatory NPT and CTBT to pursue its nuclear mission, President Obama equates India with Pakistan whose now disgraced Dr. A.Q.Khan ran a clandestine operation of nuclear proliferation. It is rumoured that President has also included Israel in his attempt to get all nations to sign NPT under pressure from Russia. But his UNSC resolution to pressurize all nations to sign CTBT and NPT without putting a cap on his own arsenal of Nuclear weapons is a tragic joke. SALT and START are never ending dialogues with US and Russia still holding 90% of nuclear warheads in their arsenal while sermonising about nuclear free world. He also attempted to influence G-8 nations to deny access to ENR technology to India until and unless we become a signatory to NPT and CTBT. His nation's financial scamsters have created havoc all over the world and yet he has been chosen for this award. He has not been able to stop killings in Afganistan and in occupied Iraq. He has not been able to stop Israel from fighting a war against innocent civilians in the name of fighting Hamas. He has not been able to find a middle path in finding a solution to the isolation of Iran on its uranium enrichment plans. Well if the Nobel jury could consider all this an achievement, that is none of our business. but to confer an award for monumental failures is a cruel joke
