Celebrating Friendship.

College! For most of us that’s the best part of our lives. The happiest period in life, Breeding ground for Love, friendship and hate. What ever we inculcate in us the good or the bad we get them all from our schools and colleges. We all cherish those days and the same has been the case for Anjali and Ajay as well.

They have been together for a long time now and they enjoyed each and every moment of life in their college. Whether it is working together for the college Magazine, social events, guest lectures, movies or outdoor hangouts. Their relationship had grown and matured in to a unique bond of understanding between each other, which mostly every one else envied.

As expected they had to part their ways when the doors of the college closed, at least for them. The college now reopens after the summer vacation, awaiting new students to develop yet another similar friendship. After the college days, some of them get lost in the concrete jungles, in their busy schedule and tier some toil, making their living. Some of them get married earlier and settle down in some corner of this world.

But for Anjali and Ajay, it was very difficult to part. Even though both of them went out to the different parts of this world, in order to pursue their career goals, they remained in touch over the Internet and mobile phones. Thanks to the technological advancement. Like any other relationship the problem cropped when Anjali was to get married. Both of them only wished to find a life partner who understands and values this unique friendship. Anjali’s parents found a groom for her and she got engaged to that handsome young man who was working in Dubai. All were happy until some one spread out a rumor about Ajay and Anjali’s relationship.

By the time Ajay heard it, it had already spread like a wild fire, tearing her life in to pieces. Her engagement broke just a day before her marriage. Ajay could not any more face her. He slowly retreated from her Life. He left the city in silence and no one knew where he has gone.

Anjali too left the country after a few days. Neither of them knew about each other’s whereabouts.  After 5 long years one of their classmates Shalini figures out Ajay through orkut. He had been in US for the last few years.

He just asks her about Anjali and come to know that she has been living in Dubai. Ajay did not bother to ask too many questions about Anjali, but few days later he comes to know that she has not been married yet and still live single.

Shalini explains all the other stories that had been in circulation and her engagement got broke for the second time last year. Now that she had given up hope on marriage Ajay felt that he should give her a call. After all a friend in deed is a friend in need.

With a lot of hesitation, he just picks up the phone and gives her a call. It was quiet a long time but she recognized his voice. Where the hell have you been?

Both of them did not get married still, waiting for each other to find some one who values their relationship.

Having personally witnessed their friendship I now realize that friendship is forever. Next month they are celebrating seventh anniversary of their friendship. This blog is a dedication to all such friends.
