Check corruption or else the country will perish

Meera Shankar’s missive exposing officers’ role in deriving benefits at the cost of nation’s interest through corruption is not one thatcreates revulsion or consternation in our civil society now a days. Rather it is sort of déjà vu; the reason being the sustained decay of national conscience and a sense of numbness to sensitivity against corruption in governance.Governor Rodrigue’s case typifies the problem. People continue to cling on until sent to jail under judicial intervention. This is pathetic-horrific. How could the Jharkhand ministers muster money thousands of crores in 2-3 years? What do the people do? Are we all dead?

The answer is not difficult to come by. Almost all people with influence in their respective fields are very ingeniously accommodated. This arrangement goes on to protect their mutual interests and creates a safety-net for their nefarious-corrupt activities in the event of any onslaught by a vigilant citizen, a whistle blower or an independent body.

The agencies that are obliged to track corruption act in partisan and at times lackadaisical manner which at the end of the day is designed to rescue and salvage the corrupt.

I personally have a bitter experience when a fool-proof corruption-related complaint was allowed deliberately by the CVC to die down as it had referred the matter to the CVO and the CVO sitting sluggish even to day.

Let the conscience of the people of India be enlightened on this auspicious day of Deepawali.

Asato Ma Sadgamaya

Lead me from the asat to the sat.
Lead me from darkness to light.
Lead me from death to immortality.

Happy Deepawali
