BE SAFE, CHECK YOUR TIRES
Be safe,
Check your tires; they keep you on the road.Ever wonder when to replace your worn car tires? The performance of your car tires is critical to the safety, performance and efficiency of your vehicle. Most tires are designed to provide similar performance throughout their lives. However, at some point they start to lose performance in terms of their traction and braking ability. Here are a few tips that should help you decide if it is time to start shopping for a new set of tires and avoid spending more than you need to.
Virtually every day, week and month of the year has some significance attached to it.
For instance: June IS STARTING OF MONSOON SEASON,
This SEASON IS Tire Safety SEASON, and it shares a goal with MANY VEHICLE, inspiring people to take an action that may save their life or someone else’s.
Just as keeping one’s blood pressure within certain limits can prevent heart disease and other ailments, keeping your car’s tire pressure at a certain level can help prevent accidents and the deaths and injuries they cause, and properly inflated and maintained tires can help save LIVES.
Here are some tire-saving (and potentially life-saving)TIPS FOR ALL WHO DRIVE.
• Check your tire pressure at least once every two weeks when the tire is cold.
• Check the alignment every six months, especially if you commute long distances and frequently encounter potholes.
• Have a four-wheel tire rotation every 6,000 miles. (Do it when you have your oil changed, just as you would change smoke detector batteries on your birthday.)
• Most tires have built-in indicators that show when tread has worn to 1/16 of an inch. Most tire retailers recommend replacing them when they reach 1/8 of an inch. Tires with low tread are more prone to hydroplaning and losing traction on slippery roads.
• Inspect your tires for any damage that might include cracks, cuts and bubbles. Any damage to a sidewall can make the tire unsafe, as can any nails or other sharp objects that can become inbedded in the tread. If you find such damage, have a trained professional inspect it AND GET ADVICE FROM THEM.
