MRP is Minimum Recruitment Price
We are aware of Maximum Retail Price ( MRP)
MRP is the price printed on the container or the carton of any packaged item we buy from the market. It is a statutory requirement and without this MRP prominently displayed on the product, no manufacturer can sell his products. Of course, there are certain exemptions to its applicability.
This MRP concept is a well-established tradition in the market place. The retailer is not supposed to sell the products above this indicated price. Of course, it is a different story and our gullible Indian consumer goes happy at buying this labeled price without realizing that this price is the top end of the price of the product and it includes all overheads including the dealers’ (wholesalers’ and retailers’ commission).
If our gullible Indian consumer were a bit smart, s/he can easily negotiate for a share in the commission from our retail seller and thereby buy the product at a price lesser than the printed MRP..
What is Minimum Recruitment Price?
Well. The above Maximum Retail Price concept can be extended to arrive at the minimum price an enlightened modern man or woman would agree and settle for sale of his / her services
No man or woman would undersell himself / herself in the market place. At best, they would try to negotiate to get exact value for services if not more. But it is always difficult. Only when equilibrium forces operate in the market place, such a fair price for the services can be negotiated and obtained
Invariably we come across in the market place, mismatches in demand and supply forces dictate the pricing factor in favour of the human (employee) or the inhuman (I regret the use of this slang for the employer – a better word alternative would be the organization!)..
What should be attempted to obtain the best possible or at least a fair price for the services? How to create favorable conditions for getting a fair price? Is there any strategic plan for working out this? Where to look for, when the conditions are not favourable?
One can analyse each of these areas in detail to work out the best possible route given a particular circumstance. This is nothing but an extension of the traditional self-evaluation technique and positioning at the right place and in right time
For the new entrants to any profession, the initial waiting period may be frustrating
For those who are searching for suitable jobs, the initial offers may not be to their full satisfaction
The point to be noted is that all the leading professionals and those who have reached the position in any profession would have faced similar problems in their initial years
It is said the greater the obstacles, more glory present itself in overcoming it
Be confident – self confidence is the key to success
Be ambitious – intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings
Be imaginative – be properly focused. You can’t depend on your judgment when your imagination is out of focus
Be enthusiastic – nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm
Possibly, this is the best way to begin from the beginning in one's career!
