Drift and Draft of the River Raft
People are on a raft. A raft with no oars. The journey is a drift on the river of time as it flows endlessly.
From my raft I see others drifting alongside on this river of time. People haplessly paddling with their hands and feet fighting the current trying to reach the river banks. Some continue to drift along waiting to reach ground. Some drift till the very end. I hear people say the journey through life is to find a purpose. To me the drift is the purpose itself. The purpose is to learn, to observe and to adapt to uneven flow and pace of the river. Obstacles on this river are plenty. People see these obstacles and paddle their oar-less rafts against the currents only to crash into them because they try to steer clear. They forget - the river always flows around any obstruction in its path. The obstacles are present for us to experience and to learn the ways of going around it.
During their drifts people carry an accumulated load of thoughts and emotions. People collect these by observation and experience. This accumulated load increases the draft becoming dangerous and there exists a possibility of the raft to capsize. People at this point need to offload their excess baggage of negative emotions into the river. People have felt that when they have negative emotions within themselves their minds and hearts are heavy and during a surge of positive emotions they feel light. These negative emotions accumulated during the drift are the main reason for the draft's increase. People keep their negative emotions on their rafts over long periods of the drift causing the drift to end quickly.
The negative emotions arise on the sight of obstacles. As people try to paddle away from these obstacles a sense of panic sets in and thoughts of failure and extinction bears heavy on their minds. They fail to see a way around these obstacles as their minds focus on the obstacle itself and stark images of a sunken raft appear before their eyes. Fear, panic and lack of confidence builds up the load thus increasing the draft and disabling the person from steering his raft around the hindrance. Frequently intentionally or unintentionally people throw their negative load overboard on to other rafts. This also causes the negative loads to increase on the other rafts and thus people should ensure to occupy their rafts with abundance of positive loads so there remain are no empty spaces where these negative feelings could fall into.
People are makers of their own fragile rafts. The drift and the draft influence people's existence. As the draft increases, the raft falls apart and the drift is over. The buoyancy of the raft is maintained only when the positive emotions form the part of the load and the negative ones are thrown overboard to sink in the depths of the river of time never to surface again.
