Mahatma "the Great Soul"

Executive secretary
Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Indian nation was born on this land for a cause in 1893. Mahatma Gandhi is a greater symbol of peace.

Mahatma’s name was nominated for Noble Peace Prize on many occasions, but the Foundation denied conferring him the Peace Prize. The Noble Prize foundation has its own parameters to confer Peace prize on any personality. Unfortunately, they failed to scale down the towering personality and confine Gandhi into their parameters and rejected Peace prize to Mahatma. The Noble prize foundation in their constricted view saw Mahatma as an Indian Nationalist leader. Should the God of Peace need a peace prize conferred on him?

Mahatma Gandhi launched 3 significant movements with one goal - freedom from the British rule. The Non-Cooperation Movement, second was the Civil Disobedience Movement. The third one was the Quit India Movement of 1942, which resulted in the 'Quit India' resolution on August 8, 1942 urging the British to leave India. Finally India gained independence on 15th August 1947, thanks to the efforts of Gandhiji. Gandhi dedicated his life to the wider purpose of discovering truth, or Satya. He tried to achieve this by learning from his own mistakes and conducting experiments on himself.

The name of Gandhi has become a name of a dynasty today in our democratic India though he never wanted any political position during his life time and led a simple life throughout.

Gandhi earnestly believed that a person involved in public service should lead a simple life. He first displayed this principle when he gave up wearing western-style clothing, which he associated with wealth and success. When he returned to India he renounced the western lifestyle he lead in South Africa, where he had enjoyed a successful legal practice. Gandhi dressed to be accepted by the poorest person in India, advocating the use of homespun cloth (khadi). Mahatma sacrificed his life for the people of India.

Today, the people in public service though wearing Khadi are leading a lavish life style at the cost of the people. People in public life earning money right and left and politics has become a profession for them to grab and rob the society.

Every Indian politician pronounces the name of Gandhi at every stage, while burying his ideals. We print his photo on every currency note and thus making him a party to black-money stored in bundles in store rooms, walls, bathrooms etc., apart from iron safes and banks, of these politicians.

Gandhi during his life time preached about Ahimsa and Satya. But, the politicians of today believe otherwise conveniently ignoring his ideologies. They are more obsessed with the Britishers’ principles of the divide and rule. They instigate people on regional, communal and caste lines and creates commotion among the different sections of people for their political gains. They don’t shy talking about bloodshed, violence and looties.

Gandhi is not just the name of a family dynasty, he is not just the name of a street named after him in every village, he is not the picture on the currency notes, and he is not just a statue standing in the corners/cross-roads of our village and towns. He is a revolution that changed the fate of our motherland and he is the person rescued the people of the land from the centuries of barbaric rule of Britishers.

Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as [Gandhi] ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth." - -- Albert Einstein

Yes, this is going to become the truth. With the advent of new Mahatmas projected by the political parties, the new generations/coming generations may not believe that a person with such stature lived on this land with such great ideologies.

yada yada hi dharmasya glanir bhavati bharata abhyutthanam adharmasya tadatmanam srijamy aham

Meaning : Whenever there is discrepancies in the discharge of natural laws of God, then God incarnates. Either He incarnates himself, or He sends His bona fide representative, or He sends His powerful representative. Gandhi might have come to this earth in that process.

Gandhian ideologies are eternal, the coming generations need to be taught about the Great Soul (Mahatma) and his ideologies for a better tomorrow. I pray every parent of this land to devote atleast 10 minutes a day from their precious time to teach their kids about Mahatma Gandhi and his ideologies for a better society.
