Movie Review- Daag -Poem of Love
Another week gone and another movie to be reviewed. This time it is a movie by Yash Chopra. This film is set in the beautiful locales of Manali. The Case includes Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Rakhee Gulzar, Iftekhar, Madan Puri, Manmohan Krishna and more.
The story goes like this: The hero and heroine while studying fell in love. So they dance and have fun as seen in many movies of YC. Immediately after the graduation the hero gets a good job in well known company( as most of us want now). But he needs to travel to Delhi for this. So this upsets the heroine. The heroine is living with her mama and mami as her parents are not alive. The mama is very affectionate about her whereas the mami is stubborn and wants the heroine to marry a boy who is a distant relative. As our hero is also a orphan he comes to mama with the marriage proposal which he accepts with both the hands. But this does'nt go well with mami and she is dead against the marriage.
So the hero and heroine get married with the aashirwaad of the mama. Now both fly to Delhi and as they are new to the city, they go to the home of the owner of the company. Here they meet the Dashing Prem Chopra ( Arrey beti aisa nahin karte....) where he tell the couple to stay in their home.
So here the Hero vents his anger and beats the villain. Accidently the villain gets killed. The police arrest the hero and the judge declares that he is murderer. But fate has another idea and the hero survives.
Here the heroine gives birth to a baby boy and leaves to manali.
The story takes a turn when both the hero and heroine meet again. But now the hero is married to a wealthy man and is father.
To know the climax of the film u need to watch the film from the beginning.
What i liked about the film: Acting wise full marks to RK and ST. RK in his own style of delivering the dialogues, mannerisms and much more. I like RK in the first part most as it shows the RK which we know better than the second half. Sharmila Tagore is truly gorgeous in the movie. I say it with utmost sincerity. How many times the actor gives us so immense acting. We have seen her in Aradhana, Amar Prem, Amanush amd so many. Again she delivers here in this movie. In the first part she is bubbling with energy and looks fantastic. In the second half, the acting crosses the line and you feel it.
I would like to mention here another actor i.e Rakhee Gulzar also. She comes in the second half and she starts slowly but she YP ensures that she delivers strong dialogues which we can hear it after watching the movie.
The music is by Laxmilan Pyarelal which is as good as it should be. One song which i like the most is "Mere Dil mein aak kya hain Tu kahe to main suna doon....." sung by Kishore Da.
I think this film was made sincerely without keeping in mind whether it will be a hit or not. The story is different when we watch the 70's films. We have got many good movies from YP productions but lately the story is not weighed much but other commercial things are given preference. I hope we will get more movies from YP banner.
Thanks and Have a Nice Day.
Mert you again with another movie review.
