Abbotabad has Ashokan Stone-inscriptions
Abbotabad in Pakistan has now become (in) famous for all the wrong reasons related to Osama Bin Laden. But I see the place through a different angle. This place is historically important to us as it has stone-inscriptions of the Ashokan era. This archeological monument stands witness to the fact that we ruled up to Afganistan including the picturesque Waziristan now cursed to house the barbaric Taliban and Al qaida terrorists. Madri from now western Pakistan and Gandhari from Kandhar in Afganistan were wives of King Pandu and King Dhritrastra who guided the destiny of the territory. The famous Takshila (Taxila) was one the 16 provinces of Ashoka who ruled from Pataliputra. The Ved-vani ( holy rendering of the Vedas) permeated the ambience of the area. But alas! the enemies of humanity have defiled the serene, pure, demure and natural surroundings.
