Murder of Pak Journalist Sayed Saleem Shazad
For recent some years I have been noticing a fine blend of objective, unbiased and fiercely fearless journalism by some of the journalists in Pakistan. I am prone to rating them at par with finest reporters the world over. Their difficult responsibility can be judged in contexts of deadly terrorism, weak democratic institutions and corrupt & rogue defence formations out to safeguard their privileges in power-sharing. Sayed Saleem Shahzad has to pay through his life. Pak army has brutally killed him for exposing penetration of jehadi and terror groups into army, navy and the air force.
A brave young and intelligent journalist has laid down his life to give strength and impetus to more vigorous pursuit of fearless investigative exposures and to establish highest order of journalistic standards in Pakistan fragile democracy. Pak government, if it has courage, should bestow on him the highest civilian award Nisane Pakistan.
I am shocked at his untimely demise.
