Daily hassles at work place
Work and workplace management are very important in one’s career planning. Almost all of us have faced some issues with our work and workplace at some time or other. Going by experience, majority of those who have managed their work and workplace have succeeded in their career. It is very important therefore that one should properly diagnose issues s/he faces in one’s work and workplace and handle them with care and caution so that s/he can comfortably achieve one’s career ambitions.
I have attempted to list out some of these issues in work and workplace and named them as daily hassles at work place. My sincere thanks go to all who at different points of time chose to share and discuss the hassles they faced in their work and workplace. My findings are:
- Can’t cope with INBOX
- Can’t say no to work
- Conflict with organizational goals
- Constant people interruptions
- Deadlines and time pressures
- Dealing with bureaucracy
- Decision making
- Don’t know where career going
- Family life adversely affecting work
- Having to tell subordinates unpleasant things
- Having to work late
- Inability to achieve goals that have not been defined
- Inability to change faster than competition
- Inability to move from function focus to business focus
- Inability to synthesize information
- Job interfering with home/family life
- Lack of critical communication
- Making mistakes
- Not enough stimulating things to do
- One-upmanship
- Out doing one another
- Process driven rather than outcome driven
- Spouse/partner not supportive about work
- Tasks associated with job not simulating
- Technological breakdown e.g. computer
- Telephone interruptions
- Too many jobs to do at once
- Too much responsibility
- Travelling associated with job
- Travelling to and fro from work
- Trouble with boss
- Trouble with customer/client
- Trouble with multi-tasking
- Trouble with work colleagues
- Too many meetings
- Unable to deal with ambiguity
- Worried about job security
Now that we have diagnosed the issues in work and workplace, it should be possible for us to handle them with care and caution.
