Expressions expressed in passion and in the proximity of the ultimate pleasures of life, can be so telling and true. But the challenges of life that we face each day shall never bring us even remotely close to the answer that we desire. If we had the correct answer we would not be indulging in something wrong. Or would it be right ? Who knows !

I have to admit that watching movies, or the desire to watch movies has never been as great as it has been within the past few days. One ends and another is desired. And for someone that makes these moving images for a living, I sometimes wonder why such an act would be of any interest to me at all. But it is.

I think there is a desire within all of us to be transported into another world, even if it be for a short period of time, to be lost and enveloped by the structure of the theme that unfolds before us. And so deep does this desire become that we find ourselves becoming almost a part of the story that develops before us. That, and the need for us all to get someone to push us into an arena where perhaps we would never have wanted to go on our own. We enjoy where we have been placed. We sympathize with the situation that we find our heroes being put to. We applaud the efforts used by him to extricate himself from a situation, to emerge victorious and unscathed. We almost will it, as we see the filmic scenario develop before us. We know even before it ends that our man is going to come out smiling and successful. Yet, the play of uncertainty till it actually happens, keeps us glued to the seats.

And how wonderful a medium this is now, when we have it at our finger tips, in our homes at will, and soon within the palm of our hands and who knows within the virtual imagery of our minds in the years to come. What would we do today without it. Yes we could some years ago, but now … there is no escape. Escape is really the wrong word. Today thankfully one must say, there is its presence at every step. And what a boon it has become for some. I think in the modern world there has not been a better and more sincere substitute for conversation than this medium. Books and reading was there. But the visual on this was an imagery that you perceived. Now they give the visual whether you conceive it or not - most cases not !

And so before we retire for the night, some more perplexing thoughts on how not to act old ~

The generation we are in may think that “the problem with us could be the kind of watch we wear - that gold crusted Rolex for example. Perhaps thats the thing that makes one look old, bourgeois and overly self satisfied.”

“Well almost. Except that that is not really the problem. The problem is wearing any watch at all. The young do not wear watches at all. In fact, a naked wrist has become as emblematic of youth as ungrey hair and a perky butt.”

“Young people use their mobile to tell the time, and if you want to seem young, you should too. Just remember to flip your phone open or light it up with one hand and to use your thumb - not your index finger - to do whatever it is you need to do. And try to make out the numbers without having to put on your glasses.”

Fascinating how the mind and imagination of some of us works.

To bed to bed and then to bed … ha ha
