Ah ! The greatest joys of my life ! Grandchildren ! Here with me tonight. And nothing could give me more pleasure. They have a longish break for Durga Pooja and have just come with their Mother after a short holiday in Dubai to spend the rest of the time with their Nana. Grown beyond their age, mature beyond maturity and still loving beyond love towards us. One does not seek or ask for any more. This is it, the ultimate.

The morning was scheduled for POWER at Madh Island and that took a while to complete, even though it was a simple little scene. Sometimes the little things in life are the ones that take the most. So when the ‘most’ was done I rushed back to expedite the recording that I had to do for the opening act for KBC. The opener. Something pretty elaborate has been designed and there is a large personal factor involved in it. That is the pressure point ; the personal involvement. Got to get it right, got to give it the best and got to deliver. Its those moments, before KBC starts at 9PM, so do not forget to switch on to Sony and catch it live on the 11th October.

The morning hours of traffic helps you catch up on all the office work that you carry in the car. The newspapers and letters for acknowledgement, the phone calls, the script readings for the scene to be enacted. In the evening there is nothing to keep you occupied, so you rest and try a bumpy shut eye. But the bumps are alarm clocks that keep waking you up, so you rather be up and bump, than not be up and bump. Its more a personal choice.

Getting into Vishal@Shekhar’s studio after months and months was most thrilling. Suddenly in the company of great musicians and composers, the spirits elevate, the body lightens and the connections to that unknown force that guides and conducts us, takes over. There are smiles and laughter and all that does so wonderfully go with the strains of music and its creation. Music ! that one vocation which must be encouraged to educate us with. That one vocation that must needs be the final vision of those that have ignored the material. That have through dedication and devotional greed made themselves the possessors of enviable talent. And how greatly they are known, that know music.

It took a while, but when it was all complete, I must confess, it was better than what I had put together, in my individual capacity. In the middle of hectic creativity there were the instant bombardments from the daughter of having landed in Mumbai with the kids and that I should be back home .. or else ..

Creativity cannot be rushed, but somehow the rush was managed and I drove back hard to see if I could be in time to put them grandchildren to bed. I was able to do that. But what a process. They all want their independence and their equality to be continuously exercised. They finally got tucked in by me. But what a lot of material they take along with them to slumber in. The iPad, the DvD player, headphones, books, little cosmetics and large doses of just simple and ordinary, sleep ! Pulling oneself away from all this is a torture, so one waits and then when all is quiet on the eastern front, the strike.

Back home the guilt ridden complexes are soon overcome. And normalcy returns, but just very briefly. Abhishek and Aishwarya back from Europe yesterday morning are off to the Pusan International Film Festival and board right now.

‘Raavaan’ is being shown as the official entry and all are visiting it. They will be back in a couple. A couple for the birthday too for the 11th.. so getting back home to see them off was essential.

Tomorrow will be POWER in the morning hours and then drive straight to the exhibition of his clothing line ……. the Karan Johar collection from his couture, the ramp as show stopper for me. So .. it works towards those that least interfere, yet not too far away from the truth.

And before I end. Screen, the film paper did a survey on the net savvy ways of individuals and came about with astounding results. Yours truly has been voted as most savvy on net even at this late stage, competing with the entire younger brigade.

All inside and major artistes are resolved and they have excelled them. But trying to send you to yours the article would take up another hour or so. I would sleep then and report again.
