DAY 956 Amitabh Bachchan Blog
Gym, the sun, the Vog … and an endless debate on the media gate … the latest and the most talked of topic among all the electronic and print. Some and most of the senior and respected journalists of the country, coming up on their own respective mediums to express themselves and what they have felt on the on going happenings of the taping leaks of conversations held over a period of time between two seniors and a go between of the Government concerning issues of politics, corporates and many other topics.
A great deal of introspection, a great deal of ‘looking within’ and a great deal of plain talking, from both sides. Interesting ! Kept switching between KBC and the debates.
And …. most of the rest of the day spent under the lights on a reclining chair, masked personnel around, grinding machines piercing menacingly inside the food devouring module of our state - the mouth ! Yup ! The dentist again and some startling moves and revelations - most of them within reasonable control. The injectibles have numbed the jaw and most of the interiors and lips and so the speech has been, somewhat flubbery ! Flubbery ? Ya ! from that absolutely entertaining film on flubber ! Remember ? A paste like chemical much like plasticine that we as kids played around with making the odd objects. But none of that magic at the dentist though. Just using the word because that is how the mouth feels when there is no sensation on the lips or gums or the jaw. So every word formed takes some effort and feels .. well .. flubbery !! Don’t know if I am making any sense, but then neither is my mouth !!
Abhishek went off early in the morning to Bengaluru, for promotional work for KHJJS - ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se’ and has since returned and gone off again to do some conference calls for the film. Promotions have become an integral part of film making these days and much thought goes into designing them. Interviews with prominent papers and journalists, interviews with prominent Tv channels, appearances at prominent shows on television and radio … just an endless round of whatever and wherever the artists of the film can present themselves so they can draw attention of the masses to them and their film, because it is that opening week that shall count when an analysis of the potential of the film is reviewed.
Many have viewed this act with some skepticism. Why must artists do this. It really does not bring credit to the film. Rajnikant, my friend and colleague wondered ‘why do film stars have to become salesmen’. Ha ha, just something that Rajni would comment upon and in the manner that he does. Maybe he has a point and maybe he would never indulge in and maybe … well .. when you are Rajnikant you would obviously not need to. So ..
Dinner has been consumed and I have to mention here that it has been through the kind courtesy of one of our prominent EF from Dubai, who deals with foodstuffs of the ‘couscous’ kind. Thank you my dear friend for taking care of my need in this particular hour of my condition. The dentist had recommended something soft and the foodstuffs so thoughtfully sent to me, came in good use. And may I say that it was delicious ! I shall be sending you my individual gratitude later, but thank you again !
India has beaten New Zealand in the 2nd one day in Jaipur just a few moments ago and as I watch the highlights I cannot but admire this Indian B Team, do such a marvelous job. B team because all the top players are being rested for the oncoming world cup and a new and fresh set of players is being put to test. And they have delivered in the two consecutive games played so far. India 2-0 up ! Well done India ! Well done boys, proud of you !
Tomorrow another day … another test … premier for KHJJS .. prayers and wishes welcome !
