DAY 1137 Amitabh Bachchan Blog
Okaaaayyyyy !! these are the first posters coming out tomorrow as front page packet on Bombay Times tomorrow .. but for my EF they come out today !! And now you know what you have to do ! Spread the word, take out prints and circulate, though I have to tell you that a formal package is being set up and shall be parceled to various members for distribution, not just among the EF but other friends and well wishers too .. So …
The music shall be released by the 7th of June through T-Series and before that putting it up on the sight would be unethical and wrong, so do hold on till then. I know it is a bit disappointing to hold on for so long, but the marketing people know what they are doing. There are other films, rather important and big ones being released alongside and before and after and seeing all this a strategy will be planned and done .. do not worry ..
So much for the film !
Oh yes another point. There are several other activities happening all at the same time - the promotion of another film of mine ‘Aarakshan’ releasing on August 12th … and KBC starting on August 15th .. so keeping all these factors one has to design publicity and promotions .. Got it !! Right !
Started early again today, but with a slight disadvantage. Slept late trying to work out other matters concerning the film and could not get sufficient hours to be refreshed for the shoot for KBC promos in the morning. Ahhh .. ! Did about 50 spots and promos for the game show and that was exhausting ! So rushed back home just now and am after posting my connect with all of you, screaming ‘Timberrrrr’ and collapsing into bed !!
And in the middle of all this was able to take time out for just a while to chase Shanouk around the house, indoors, as he excitedly ran bumped scrambled up and down sofas and staircases ! Also saw a few episodes of ‘The Kennedy’s’ which was strongly recommended by Abhishek and Jaya. Fascinating ! Its the entire story beginning from JFK’s early years, his family, Father and brothers and leading up to his President status and now, how he deals with various issues that keep coming up in office. Bit of deja vu after The West Wing, because it almost seems like they took over the sets of the latter !! Ha !
But goodness ! What a family. Ambition, desire, strength and a certain commitment to succeed at all costs. Led powerfully by the head, Joe Kennedy. Each member of the family possessing a certain something, that stood them apart.
As i get into the post production work on the film, I find myself involved with many aspects of modern film making and the amount of effort it takes to bring out that first print. Also what I am observing is the tremendous amount of talent that, having lain dormant for many many years, now erupting in wave upon wave of young enthusiastic entrepreneurs. The drive and determination to do well, to excel and to get to the top, is just incredible. Is this what the economic freedom, espoused by our leaders some 10 years ago, has done to us. Everyone of this generation wanting to prove a point. Wanting to make it big. Converting all their energy and talent into lucrative opportunities. Is this why the West looks upon us and China as the new frontiers ? Is this what the West now predicts is the reality of India - where we shall become that one portion among the three most powerful nations ?
If it does, and I am certain that at this rate it most certainly shall, then the credit will have to go to the spirit of that bracket of a generation that has fast evaporated in most Western countries, the youth. The youth between the age of 18 and 35. This age group in India today comprises the largest sector of the population - an element that was once ridiculed as being overtly immense and unmanageable. But ironically it is this section that is responsible for all the development that is taking place. The progress that is propelling the country forward.
And … this is the generational age that patronizes, our movies the most ! Which is why you shall find that subjects that identify themselves with the youth of the country are doing well. Which is why the tried and tested formulae, the routine, is just not working. There has to be a rabbit out of the hat every other day ! That is the impatience and speed with which this youth functions. And God help you if you are not in tune with them ! It is instant and final rejection !!!
Our task then of making movies, or producing anything of value is being guided by and dictated to by the 18 to 35 !
May this generation grow, may it accomplish what it sets itself up for and may it go and patronize ‘BBUDDAH -HOGA TERA BAAP ” !!
Love you ..
