DAY 361 Amitabh Bachchan Blog

It was the trip to London that kept me going any further on the blog yesterday. But now that I have settled down, I settle down to what I enjoy most - connecting to the Extended Family !!

Its ‘Teen Patti’ and its the last schedule. There are some important names being mentioned for the shoot, but unless it all happens it would be premature to talk of them. Perhaps a little later when we are deep in progress on our work.

Its 5 degrees in the morning here and from near 40 degrees in India this is a welcome relief. Some of the work shall be in Cambride and I look forward to that. Yet another opportunity to visit St Catherine’s College, where my Father studied for his doctorate in English Literature. His thesis being ‘W.B.Yeats and Occultism’. A unique subject and my Father being among the first Indians to have succeeded in getting a Doctorate from this University. I had visited the College on two occasions. Once when Jaya and I had just come to UK for the first time soon after getting married and the other during the shooting of ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’. In 1973 when we first came we had visited Mr Henn, my Father’s tutor, a few walking meters from the University. He had been most warm and welcoming despite his advanced age and condition. He operated from a wheel chair and did all that any normal person would do. Opening the front door to us, guiding us into the sitting area, and even making us some tea, with his own hands, in that wheel chair condition. He refused any assistance and took great offense when someone did extend a helping hand. He even drove his own car himself; folding his chair after getting in and manually pulling it out when he wanted to get out. Remarkable spirit !!

During our second visit, Mr Henn was no more, but I went in to the University and was taken around to the areas where my Father had sat for his studies - in the classes, in the library. Such a peculiar feeling. I even saw his name in the register of 1954 !!

As I write I am informed of some sad news.

Shobhit Kaushal passed away. That confident and full of talent youngster, the painter and poet, one who’s works I had posted not so long ago, gone. Gone to cancer.Passed away in Kanpur today. May his soul rest in peace. He was a unique child of God..!!

I must rest now the jet lag catches up. I am told Sir David Frost that great commentator and TV personality, wishes to interview me for a program he does on India. Such an important personality, what ever would he find talking to me, I wonder. And then soon after we get into a photo shoot and reading rehearsals for the shoot, with Sir Ben Kingsley. He plays a n important part in the film.

The possibility of meeting up with 2 decorated personalities and in fact working with them together, seems awe inspiring. Very soon I shall have all the gory details of the shoot and shall share then with you.

My brain hurts with sleep. Its demands that I must rest in order to be at my utmost by tomorrow.

So I bid you goodbye and shall be with you very soon..
