A programme on CNN asked its viewers this question. It came about from the loss of an iphone mobile machine which was the latest in invention and had specific information on it, that now, due to its loss, was available to the one that recovered it. The iphone I believe belonged to a journalist and the debate was whether the one that found the phone, was privy to all the information on a journalists phone - a journalist’s information being preserved information, or secret information or whatever the technical word used is.

I think this is more a police case rather than one where we debate the morality that has arisen on the stealing of a journalists information. And since journalists are a protected species, one that are above all questioning, one that do no wrong and that have the liberty and right to never submit their source of information, does the present issue then fall in the category of a media right not to disclose ?

Again I feel that disclosure by media is a protected property. If someone has mischievously stolen that property, does the individual that stole it, bound by the same laws of non disclosure, simply because a journalists private property was stolen ? Up for debate and opinion …

There have been a few comments from the respected members of our extended family, about their disgust on seeing my open mouthed photograph on the face page.

May I first explain that the open mouthed picture is not an open mouthed picture. It is part of the promotional video that I shot in the studios of NDTv, where part of the creative was to ‘roar like a tiger’. What you see then in the picture is not an attempt to show ‘my ugly insides’ but to comply by the dictat of the creative by roaring like a tiger !! I am sorry if my insides do bring rejection and discomfort to those that sign in, I shall be more careful in the future. There are a few if I may add, that actually quite like the idea of having a still unchanging visual of an open mouth !! And that too mine !! But as i said if it is causing discomfort, it shall presently be changed.

The post on my liver condition has of course brought on an entire history of how it can be cured, brought back to life, right down to the fact of donating an organ to save my life.

I am indeed most moved by this your sentiment. But may I simply say that, I am in no way under any kind of suffering. Yes the condition is there, in control and livable, when I shall require some help I shall indeed ask for it..

When I shall put together all the other medical episodes, perhaps then collectively you shall be in a position to comment. I fear though, that seeing the numerous conditions, or at least reading about them, would be a heavy task. I would like for you all to be aware of this and be calm and restful.

Balki and his wife Gauri came over for dinner and an evening of discussion on cinema ensued. Stories that ought to be made, stories that when narrated sounded good, not sounded good, execution, present state of the nation and on. A pleasant evening again.
