DAY 1134 Amitabh Bachchan Blog
My apologies also for this late post, but I have only just finished with all the work its supervision and its execution. If one is not obsessive at this stage of the film it can have disastrous results. This is the final mile and whatever needs to be decided and executed will reflect on the fate of the film. So even though there is a desire to do, there is the caution of wanting to do it well and correctly. But as Daisy so graciously reminded us of the Obama speech during his recent visit to the United Kingdom … ‘We can do it” !! Thank you.
I am very keen to share the music of the film with you, but shall have to wait for a go ahead from marketing. Perhaps what can be shared is the package of the songs which if I may be a little immodest has been unique. There is a modern youthful element, some typical London punjabi underground, an attempt at the very first ‘acapella’ and in India and in Indian movie the very first time ‘Dub Beat’ a element which I am told by Vishal and Shekhar is a rage in the western world and catching on very fast here too among the young. But my favorite has to be the melody composed by this very talented duo, sung by me and written by that lovely spark Anvita.
As you can see then, there is a lovely combination of many styles of music. Four of the songs have been rendered in my voice and I am afraid you may have to suffer through them, as they come from a non singer.
There is a ‘Bbuddah’ theme which has been playing in all the promos in the Acapella style. The same song has been rendered in the Dub Beat and if you have large music systems, or would listen to it at a club very loud, I am certain it would be a hair raising, inspirational and most uplifting experience - what do they call them that play or listen to such music - head bangers ?? or something like that ?? The medley is nostalgic and rhythmed up to make great dancing possible. And then of course my favorite, the melody - soft, romantic, put the lights off, shut your eye stuff arranged exceptionally of course by Vishal and Shekhar, but programmed by Abhijeet who works along with the duo. A great musician in his personal right. And those that may have had opportunity to see the ‘Unforgettable Show’, would remember him .. he was on the key boards !
The film is flamboyant in style, especially in my character which you may have guessed by the dressing design in the trailer. It is tongue in cheek where I am concerned, relaxed laid back and cool. To quote one of the lines in the Bbuddah theme - ‘Cool ka School hun mai !’ .. this apart from the catch phrase ‘thoda action thoda Jackson’ also in the theme tune in the Acapella style. I am keen to see the reactions on the medley and on the theme dub beat, as also the soft melody. Yes one may not associate melody with what has been seen so far, but it is there and justifiably so.
The posters of the film are ready and Rahul Nanda that brilliant designer, that has worked with us in many films, the last being Paa, has yet again excelled in his creativity. I should be in a position to put these out to the EF not just in the post, but trying to work out a system as suggested, of physically sending out packages to members.
I am excited that there is excitement among you .. and ever grateful that you have volunteered to extend your affection in such a graceful gesture. Thank you again … and with love !!
